Wastewater Treatment

Heavy metal exposure represents a serious worldwide health and environmental hazard. Excessive amounts of lead, cadmium, mercury, arsenic, chromium, zinc, and copper pose the greatest concern to health. Heavy metals frequently result in compromised mental and central nervous system function, alterations in blood composition, damage to organs (such as the lungs, kidneys, and liver), nausea, vomiting, and overall reduced energy level. Chronic exposure to heavy metals is also associated with various cancers, degenerative processes that mimic Alzheimer’s disease, muscular dystrophy, Parkinson’s disease, and multiple sclerosis.

Heavy metal exposure often results from ingestion of food, water, and non-food materials (paint chips and soil) or absorption through the skin. Metal contamination represents a persistent environmental problem at many industrial and residential sites.

Periodic Products’ filter systems and Chelok® polymers represent an efficient, time-saving and safe solution to the challenges that modern industry and municipalities face in operating under ever-tightening environmental and regulatory restrictions.
